Sanjay: Are you smarter than your parents?
Sam: It's difficult to know. They are older and wiser, but my parents didn't go to university and I did.
Sanjay: Does that make you smarter than your parents though?
Sam: No, my parents are older than me. In the past, fewer people went to university.
Sanjay: Were you the first person in your family to go to university then?
Sam: No, my uncle went to Oxford. He's much smarter than me and now he's a teacher in a school, but my parents are richer.
Sanjay: How is that possible?
Sam: Because my father left school earlier and got an apprenticeship with an accountant, he has been there ever since and now he is in charge of the firm. So perhaps my parents are smarter than me, even if they didn't go to university.
