B1.6
What was your childhood like?
Ellie: Grandma, what was it like when you were a child?
Grandma: Things were very different. We didn't have many toys.
Ellie: Why not?
Grandma: We couldn't afford them. We didn't have much money.
Ellie: What toys did you have?
Grandma: I had a baby doll. And for my tenth birthday, I was given a bike?
Ellie: Did you have a TV?
Grandma: No. Only very rich people had TV's then. And mobile phones didn't exist.
Ellie: So how did you talk to your friends?
Grandma: We had to go and see them. Sometimes we played in the park and sometimes we played in the street?
Ellie: Wasn't it dangerous to play in the street?
Grandma: No. There were very few cars at that time.
